Niamhy Mac is an eighteen year old singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist (guitar, cello, bass guitar, keyboard) and producer. While she is mainly influenced by classic songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Lou Reed and Bob Dylan, her style is influenced by a variety of genres including Alternative Rock, Funk, Classic Rock and Folk.
Born and raised in a rural village in the Highlands, Scotland, she attended the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton studying cello and guitar. She is now enrolled at Edinburgh Napier on a Popular Music degree course.
Don't Wish Your Life Away!
She wrote and performed the melancholic yet upbeat track 'Drifter' at the age of fourteen for a composition project for music in high school. This was the same for the through-composed 'Sometimes' the following year and consequently 'Pacify' for her final year in high school. Don't Wish Your Life Away! is an optimistic track that she wrote during lockdown as a reminder to herself and others to look on the bright side. The final track that she wrote was 'True Colours', which she entirely performed, produced and wrote herself all in her small dorm room at the University Accommodation.
Her debut EP 'Don't Wish Your Life Away!' is released on the 29th January 2021. The EP consists of songs which were entirely written and performed by Niamhy Mac. The EP can be listened to on main streaming platforms such as Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and more.
